“We can’t thank you enough for the fantastic job you have done for us on the Neighbourhood Plan. Without your extensive professional knowledge and tireless patient explanations, our task would have been impossible.

I hope you are as delighted as we are with the outcome of the referendum and the quality of the final document. We look forward to putting the plan into action and hope that we can call on your expertise again as we work on implementing future projects.”

This is an extract from a letter that landed through our door today (we don’t get many of those these days!) from Calne Town and Calne Without Parish Council. We worked with the community of the area to review their Neighbourhood Plan over the last three years. The volunteers that worked on this Plan review were a great bunch: committed, knowledgeable and with a good sense of humour (essential!).

The work won’t end here though. As we wrote back in 2018, the Neighbourhood Plan must be actively used by the community who brought it into force (not just the Local Planning Authority) to prevent inappropriate development (wrong site, wrong uses, wrong design etc.) and to ensure more thoughtful, locally sensitive development and design.

Following the positive referendum vote, we were appointed by the Town and Parish to continue working with them. In the first instance, we are preparing to deliver a training series for the councillors (existing and new from the 1st May) of the Plan area.

Get in touch if you are looking for training, or support in delivering and implementing your neighbourhood plan. We would love to chat with you – info@placestudio.com.
