The Association of Collaborative Design (ACD) brings people together through a shared passion for co-design and participatory engagement.
Back in 2019, over a few drinks after a workshop on engagement in design, the ACD was conceived. Sarah Jones-Morris, Dr Noha Nasser, Finlay McNab, and our very own Katie Lea founded the ACD which became a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2020.
The Association of Collaborative Design CIC (ACD) aims to mainstream collaborative design across the built environment, democratise design, create healthier neighbourhoods and inspire long-term stewardship.

Over 5 years on from that fruitful post workshop drink, the ACD continues to be run by volunteers from a range of professions, academic backgrounds and nationalities.
This month, we were again chatting over drinks with inspirational members of the ACD team, this time at the Bristol celebration of the Engagement Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work (the process of briefing, designing, constructing and operating buildings).
The Engagement Overlay structures early, ongoing and effective engagement throughout all project design stages. It is a brilliant resource, and a great achievement for the ACD team.
