This week, Place Studio turns ten years old! We can’t believe a decade has passed since we set up our business here in Bristol. Whilst we had been planning an exciting field trip (and prosecco!) to mark the occasion, we are all still celebrating this happy milestone from home.
Appropriately, we are spending some time looking back over our experiences and achievements, whilst keeping our eye firmly on the future and thinking about what comes next for Place Studio.
Over the last decade, we have worked with dozens of community groups on a huge range of planning, design and public realm projects in and around the south west. Throughout, we have maintained our commitment to collaborative approaches and learnt so much about people and place along the way.
A particular highlight has to be our RTPI Small Planning Consultancy of the Year award which we won in 2015 and were honoured to be shortlisted again for this year (but won by a fantastic consultancy based in Wales). Since 2010, we’ve also been finalists in Place Making award categories for our work on Neighbourhood Plans and pre-application community engagement.
In these challenging times, we remain optimistic about the value of collaborative approaches to planning and design, as we explore new ways of engaging with communities, as well as the need to diversify the voices that are heard within our field.
